Project Life February 2015 Part 2
February - 2nd half February's color scheme was all about red, pinks, and brown. Of course I had to celebrate Valentine's Day. Throughout the pages, I added a ton of small hearts to add some nice small embellishments. The second half of the month's pages highlights my special products and my mini vacation.
Pages 7-10 feature all my pictures from our mini retreat. Nine of my fellow mom friends rented a house in Guerneville for the weekend. We had an amazing weekend of drinking, relaxing, laughing, and fun activities. I kept the embellishments to a minimum in order to spotlight the great pictures. I was orgiainlly going to have just two 12x12 pages, but couldn't narrow down my pictures. I added in a Design G insert to get all the pictures I wanted.
Page 11 is my monthly OLW progress and monthly recap. I only embellished the journaling cards. But I'm loving the look!
Page 12 is a new feature in my PL albums. I've been wanting to do a Day in the Life page for ages, but never seemed to get around to it. Instead of monthly (my original idea), I'm going to a do a Day in the Life page once a quarter. I highlighted our activities with washi tape labels on the pictures.

Desktop Thursday #4
Finishing up a banner for a baby shower this week. Simple, but cute! We don't know the names of the babies, so I went with a generic "Welcome Baby" in fairly gender neutral colors.
Two Color Balloons
Today's card was my individual swap card for March. I found this beautiful card design from Allison Okamitsu @ Nice People Stamp and knew I had to recreate it for my swap buddy. I've really been into heat embossing lately and this card has just enough to satisfy my craving.
The two color balloons are incredibly easy to make. Simply ink up one color (for example Pool Party) and then sponge another color (Wild Wasabi) directly onto the stamp. Stamp your paper and voila! instant two color balloon! I love the look, but the next step took this card to the next level. Next I inked up the confetti stamp with Versamark and then heat embossing with pewter embossing powder. I don't have gold like Allison's card, but pewter turned out very nice! In the photo below, you can see that the embossed parts are a bit shiny. Very pretty! I added a few die cut bows and a heat embossed sentiment on vellum to complete the card. Love this one!
- Stamps: Celebrate Today; Simply Wonderful
- Inks: Pool Party; Wild Wasabi; Daffodil Delight; Calypso Coral; Basic Gray; Versamark
- Cardstock: Pool Party; So Saffron; Daffodil Delight; Wild Wasabi; Whisper White; Vellum
- Accessories:
- Tools: Balloon Framelits; Pewter Embossing Powder; Heat Embossing Gun

Sunday Haul #9
I went a little crazy during Joann's big sale last week... There were too many great deals! Among those that i bought were the Polka Dot Party and Flea Market PL mini kits. Not my absolute favorite designs, but I do like them a lot. I also grabbed a ton of mini alphas to use in the PL albums.
Wedding and a Baby
One of March-April's featured classes is Special Occasions. You often need a sympathy, congratulations, wedding, and baby card throughout the year, but don't usually make them. This class fixes that problem while using some great new products from SU!
Card #1
For the wedding card, I wanted to feature my new Butterfly Thinlits. This card has a lot going on without being overly complicated.
- Stamps: Your Perfect Day
- Inks: Crisp Cantaloupe; Crumb Cake
- Cardstock: Crisp Cantaloupe; Sahara Sand; Whisper White; Something Borrowed DSP
- Accessories: Roses
- Tools: Butterfly Thinlits; Label die cuts
Card #2
The baby card highlights the new baby suite products from the Occasions catalog. The only piece I didn't use was the washi tape. I also have a version of this card in pink, yellow, and gray, and one in just yellow and gray.
- Stamps: Little Sunshine
- Inks: Basic Gray; Lost Lagoon
- Cardstock: Whisper White; Sweet Dreams DSP
- Accessories: Sweet Dreams buttons; Gray twine
- Tools: Sweetheart Punch; Square Framelits
Project Life February 2015 Part 1
February - 1st half February's color scheme was all about red, pinks, and brown. Of course I had to celebrate Valentine's Day. Throughout the pages, I added a ton of small hearts to add some nice small embellishments.
Page 1 featured my month card (from Echo Park) and a calendar card. I went through each day of the month and added an activity, meal, or weather. I won't do this every month, but this was a fun idea. The pictures are mostly random pics from the month. Lots of cute Arthur pics and even one of the twins sent to me by my mom.
Page 2 highlights more random pics and a bit of journaling. I especially love my cork accessories. The Book Worm piece is too adorable!
Page 3 features our Valentine's Exchange at The Corner Bakery. I added a nice journaling card and a sentiment card from the Dazzle kit. I purposely didn't embellish the photos as they are nice and colorful.
Page 4 features the rest of our random pics from the month. I added another small journaling card and a sentiment card from the Dazzle kit (really loving that kit right now!).
Page 5 and 6 highlight our trips to the Oakland Zoo and Happy Hollow. I did a journaling card with our Top 10 "best bits" about our visits. This was nice way to add some memories without writing an entire page.

Bridal Shower Invitations
I am hosting my friend's bridal shower later this month. I had so many ideas of where to go with the theme, decor, food, and invites. I finally decided to sit down and commit to something. Her wedding color is purple, but for the invites I decided to go in a very different direction. I found this great washi tape and other decor accessories on sale at Michael's last week. I decided to build my invite color palette off of that that. So in Stampin' Up color terms, the party with be Strawberry Slush, Blushing Bride, Pistachio Pudding, Crumb Cake, and Black. Instead of a card that opens, I went with just a front and back design on one piece of cardstock. The final result ended up being as thick as a card, but doesn't open. The back is pretty simplistic. I layered on a piece of Pistachio, Blushing, or Strawberry onto the Kraft paper. From there I added a piece of white stamped with the invite info and two pieces of washi tape. Each of the 36 invites looks a little different. I tried to mix up the combo of washi tapes and ink colors.
The front side has a lot more going on. I layered a piece of Strawberry or Pistachio DSP on top of the Kraft paper. Then I added a banner in the opposite color. The stamped banner is from Your Perfect Day. Initially that was all I was going to do, but the card looked too plain. A stamped Petal Potpurri flower and a Something Borrowed jewel complete the invite. I'll share photos of the event and decor after it happens later this month. I can't wait!
